Osteopathy is a holistic manual therapy that treats the cause or causes of dysfunctions in order to improve health. Therapists use their hands to restore movement and balance to different parts of the body such as bones, muscles, arteries, internal organs, etc.
Osteopathy, which sees the human body as a unit in which all systems are interrelated, focuses on the source of the problem or dysfunction. Therapists identify it by questioning clients before assessing the position, mobility and vitality of tissues. The assessment involves an evaluation of posture and palpation, as well as active and/or passive mobility tests.
Therapists treat the problem with the help of osteoarticular, myofascial, cranial or visceral techniques, sometimes applied to areas that are removed from the source of the dysfunction. They use clients' biomechanical strength (breathing, muscle strength, coughing, body levers etc.) and "speak" to the tissues.
Osteopathy can successfully treat functional problems such as pain, tiredness, headaches, digestive and respiratory disorders, etc. in people of all ages - from babies to seniors.
