Physiotherapy can help athletes, amputees, multitrauma victims, injured workers, and victims of road accidents, as well as people with back pain, tendonitis, sprains, or neurological problems (e.g. stroke, multiple sclerosis, etc.) A physiotherapy assessment involves tests and exercises that provide information on joint mobility, muscle strength and endurance, functional abilities, muscle tone and reflexes, posture, gait and sensitivity. This data enables the physiotherapist to analyze the problem and its causes, to determine treatment objectives and to develop a treatment plan suited to clients' needs. Physiotherapy treatments may include using heat and/or ice, manipulative techniques, electrotherapy (ultrasound, TENS, etc.) and hydrotherapy (whirlpool bath), as well as teaching exercises and giving advice.
